A great moment (below) captured in Oldbury during the General Election campaign of January 1910 by my great grandfather – Sam Key.  He and his sons were pioneering photographers in Oldbury, Birmingham – where they painted their trademark symbol of a key onto each photographic plate.

 

Recently, scans of 50 Key images have been generously supplied to me courtesy of Dr Terry Daniels of the Langley Local History Society where Dr Daniels commented that “...the 'Key cards’ comprise around a quarter of the [society’s] collection. This shows what a major contribution [the] Keys made to recording the [photographic] history of Oldbury.  In many cases these are the only pictures of certain places or events that I know of...”
